Underpinning works for Soletanche Bachy Czech
Soletanche Bachy Czech Republic is specialized in underpinning works and creating various basement levels beneath historic/existing buildings. Discover some of the projects that marked the year 2023.
Vyšehradská 33 & 29, two projects in the heart of Prague’s Old Town
Plots 33 and 29 were won successively by the same general contractor, for two different investors. Located in Prague’s Old Town (“Nové Město” district), the two plots share part of a courtyard.
Project 33 involves the underpinning of historic buildings dating from the late 19the century, and the creation of 2 to 3 levels of underground parking. The technologies used are Jet grouting, micropiles and anchors. We also carried out the earthworks.
The project lasted just over 6 months and was completed in early 2023. The project investor is the real estate fund of an Austrian bank (Raiffeisen Bank).
Project 29 involves creating 2 levels of underground parking in the courtyard of the building (late 19the early 20the). The technologies used were Jet grouting, micro Berlin-type wall, micropiles and anchors. The project lasted around three months and was completed in February 2023.
During both projects, work was carried out in confined spaces, right in the center of town and opposite the Ministry of Justice, which required a great deal of organization and rigor for all logistics (supplies, evacuation, transport…).
Kostel Panny Marie, Grunta (Church of the Virgin Mary in Grunta)
The project is located in the village of Grunta, close to the town of Kutna Hora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic mining activities. The church was built at the very beginning of the 20the century and decorated in the Secession style by disciples of Alfons Mucha (a Czechoslovakian painter renowned for his “art nouveau” posters, notably of Sarah Bernhardt).
Unfortunately, the church is suffering from differential settlement problems. We have therefore underpinned the building with jet grouting, after which the paintings will be restored.
