Focus on Riverside 2

Once completed, Riverside 2 will be one of the largest and most efficient waste-to-energy plants in the UK. It will process almost 650,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste, generating enough electricity to power 176,000 homes every year. The Riverside Energy Park extension will meet a crucial need for waste treatment and energy generation infrastructure in London and the South East City. What’s more, the facility is the only one in the UK capable of receiving residual waste by river. As a result, around 100,000 truck journeys will be avoided on the roads.
