Soil Engineering has been commissioned to carry out ground studies to analyze a subsidence on the M80, the motorway linking Glasgow to Stirling in Scotland.

Soil Engineering specializes in soil investigation, stabilization, and analysis. Our subsidiary was hired by The Coal Authority and BEAR Scotland to investigate a subsidence at a junction on the M80, a site marked by old mines.

The project mobilizes teams from Soil Engineering for cable percussion, rotary drilling, as well as a lead geologist responsible for providing continuous information flow to the client. The aim is to conduct drilling away from the subsidence area to collect reference data, which will then be analyzed. This way, the teams can fully understand the characteristics of the problem, identify the cause, and propose a repair solution.

Identifying the cause of the subsidence
