ForSHORE by CIMESA : Design – Construction of a quay in Veracruz

CIMESA and Soletanche Bachy International, on behalf of the CICE group, are working on the design and construction of a quay for a semi-specialized terminal in the port of Veracruz. The project aims to improve the region’s port infrastructure. A project that demonstrates Soletanche Bachy’s expertise in marine works available under the ForSHORE brand!

The project calls for the construction of a 550-meter-long berthing infrastructure, accompanied by dredging to a depth of 15 meters. The structure will be supported by steel piles and a prefabricated concrete structure.

The teams work on three main fronts:

  1.

    On the quay

Deep foundation work was completed with the installation of steel piles with a diameter of 900 to 1000 mm and a depth of 32 to 39 meters. These piles were driven using a platform and auxiliary metal guides to ensure precision installation. PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer) tests were carried out during driving to verify the pile’s load-bearing capacity.

  2.

    Prefabrication yard

Located outside the port, this area is dedicated to the manufacture of the prefabricated elements that will make up the structure, including heads, longitudinal beams, transverse beams and prestressed pre-slabs.

  3. On-site assembly

Once the steel piles have been installed on the quay, the prefabricated elements will be put into place. This will be followed by civil engineering work, including the pouring of node closures using cast-in-place concrete.

The works will be completed in June 2025 with the installation of quay equipment such as bollards, fenders and rails. The aim is to improve the port of Veracruz’s infrastructure by accommodating 1st generation Panamax container vessels.

As part of this project, the skills of our subsidiaries are mobilized to ensure that every detail complies with quality and safety standards.
